JOB TITLE: Equipment Operator 3

REPORTS TO: Street Superintendent

Job classification to include, but not limited to the examples of work performed listed below

SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of light and medium equipment and light to heavy duty trucks. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties related to construction and maintenance of city roads and other facilities. Starting pay is $16.91 to $17.53 depending on CDL status.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Operate a dump truck in connection with the transportation of sand, salt, stone, gravel, asphalt, and supplies;

· Operate a light truck for carrying tools, equipment, and supplies to and from the job site;

· Operate a farm tractor with power mower attachments;

· Assist in loading and unloading materials and equipment transported;

· Operate a snowplow for removing snow;

· Operate a dump truck pulling a power operated leaf machine;

· When not operating equipment, perform the task of laborer;

· On a part-time basis, operate a front-end loader, sweeper, flusher truck, and comparable equipment; and,

· Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Skilled in the operation of tractors, dump trucks, and other automotive equipment under all types of weather conditions;

· Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions;

· Good knowledge of traffic and safety rules;

· Mechanical aptitude;

· Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to tractor/sickles; and

· Dependability.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND/OR TRAINING REQUIRED:

· High school graduate or GED.

· Residency requirement.

· Have or obtain a valid Missouri CDL (Class B or higher preferred).
